Who is funding this grant program?

In 2018, the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors designated a portion of funds raised through the Community Benefit Contribution Program to support youth-serving organizations in Stanislaus County. In 2022, the Stanislaus County Chief Executive Office contracted with Stanislaus Community Foundation to manage the Community Benefit Contributions grant program, which includes $700,000 in general operating support for youth-serving organizations and/or schools.

What is the time frame for this program?

The application portal opens on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, and closes Monday, October 31, 2022, at 5:00 pm PST. Award notifications are tentatively scheduled to occur on January 31, 2023 by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors and award disbursements will occur in January 2023.

Who is qualified to apply?

  • To be eligible for funding, applicants must meet the following requirements:  

    • 501c3 nonprofits and/or schools serving Stanislaus County who are focused on youth; applications will be prioritized based on proximity to approved Commercial Cannabis Businesses in unincorporated areas.  

    • Be geographically located and/or provide services within the borders of Stanislaus County.   

    • Grants will be prioritized for nonprofits and/or schools that participated in the Stanislaus Youth Empowerment Blueprint process, and/or are currently involved in the Stanislaus Youth Empowerment Alliance, and/or demonstrate organizational commitment to best practices outlined in the Stanislaus Youth Empowerment Blueprint   

How will grant applications be selected?

Stanislaus Community Foundation is managing the application process on behalf of Stanislaus County. An evaluation committee will be formed that includes a cross-section of community representatives. The evaluation committee will review proposals individually online based on a scoring rubric developed by Stanislaus Community Foundation and reviewed/approved by the Stanislaus County Chief Executive Office. The evaluation committee must agree, by majority vote, on the final awards in total. Stanislaus Community Foundation will present recommended grant approvals to the Stanislaus County Chief Executive Office for ratification by the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors in December 2022.

How much funding can my organization receive?

Grant award amounts may not exceed $50,000.

What information will I need to include as an attachment to the grant application?

(1) IRS form 990 for 2021 (or most currently filed)  
(2) Prior year's audited (or unaudited) financial statement  
(3) Current year’s operating budget  
(4) List of support received since January 2022, including amount and funding source (include major gifts from individuals and all financial support received from corporations, foundations, and state and federal agencies)  

Does submitting an application guarantee funding?

No, applying does not guarantee that your organization will receive funding. Priority will be given to nonprofits and/or schools that participated in the Stanislaus Youth Empowerment Blueprint process, and/or are currently involved in the Stanislaus Youth Empowerment Alliance, and/or demonstrate organizational commitment to best practices outlined in the Stanislaus Youth Empowerment Blueprint.

Can my organization apply for funding if our services extend beyond stanislaus county?

Yes, organizations that operate beyond Stanislaus County and provide services within Stanislaus County may apply for funding. However, the grant award size will be based on the percentage of the organization’s operating budget that supports services/programs in Stanislaus County.

Can my organization apply for funding if we are headquartered outside of stanislaus county but have a local office and provide services within the county?

Yes, organizations that are headquartered outside Stanislaus County but have a local office and provide services within Stanislaus County may apply for funding. However, the grant award size will be based on the percentage of the organization’s operating budget that supports services/programs in Stanislaus County.

Can my organization apply for funding if we are headquartered outside of Stanislaus county and do not have a local office byt provide services within the county?

Yes, organizations that are neither headquartered in Stanislaus County nor have a local office but provide services within Stanislaus County may apply for funding. However, the grant award size will be based on the percentage of the organization’s operating budget that supports services/programs in Stanislaus County.

my organization does not have audited or unaudited financials. can we still apply?

Yes, if your organization does not have externally audited financial records, please upload your organization’s most recent Form 990.

my organization has not filed a form 990. can we still apply?

Organizations must submit either a Form 990-N, 990-EZ, or 990. If your organization has not filed any version of a Form 990, please email Yasmeen El-Farra at yelfarra@stanislauscf.org to verify your organization’s eligibility.
